Tip Us

ScopePress.uk, operated by Rock Bay Media Ltd., a private company limited by shares registered in Gibraltar (company number 128512, registered office Suite 21, Portland House, Glacis Road, Gibraltar GX11 1AA), maintains a dedicated tip line to support its editorial mission of delivering accurate, UK-focused technology journalism. Our Editor-in-Chief Nathan Brooks oversees all tip-handling procedures to ensure that submissions align with our Sources & Standards and fact-checking policy.

Who should I contact with a tip?

Use tips@scopepress.uk for story tips, product-launch intelligence, security issues, platform changes, regulatory developments, corporate tech news, and data breaches with public interest. For time-sensitive breaking news, send details to newsdesk@scopepress.uk. Press releases and official announcements should go to press@scopepress.uk. Our editorial team – Managing Editor Olivia Reid, Devices & Reviews Editor Samuel Hart, AI & Software Correspondent Aisha Khan, Consumer & Gaming Correspondent George Pemberton, and Standards & Fact-Checking Lead Ruth Donovan – each monitor these addresses daily.

What makes a good tech tip?

A strong tip centres on verifiable information with clear UK relevance: unannounced product launches, undisclosed security vulnerabilities, significant platform changes, regulatory or competition authority actions, corporate restructuring or acquisitions, and data breaches affecting British consumers or organisations. We prioritise tips that offer concrete documentation – meeting notes, internal memos, leaked specifications, correspondence, or first-hand accounts – rather than speculation. Tips that expose harm, protect consumer safety, or hold powerful entities accountable receive particular attention from our standards desk, led by Ruth Donovan under the fact-checking policy.

What information should I include in my tip?

Provide the who, what, when, where, and why of the story as precisely as you can. Include supporting materials such as screenshots, documents, recordings, or links, and state clearly whether you wish to remain anonymous or be named as a source. Indicate whether your submission is on the record, off the record, or on background. If you have concerns about attribution, you can discuss these with our legal team beforehand using legal@scopepress.uk – see our privacy policy for how we handle your data.

How does ScopePress.uk verify tips?

All tips are reviewed by Ruth Donovan, our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, who cross-references every factual claim against independent sources, official records, and technical documentation. We never present rumours as facts. Our verification process follows the methodology detailed in our Sources & Standards page and the fact-checking policy. If we cannot independently confirm a claim, we will not publish it. Named sources are contacted for verification; anonymous tips receive additional scrutiny to assess credibility and potential bias.

How do you handle confidentiality?

We treat all tipster identities and submitted materials as confidential, subject to legal obligations. If you have specific security concerns, contact legal@scopepress.uk before sending sensitive information. Data you provide is processed in accordance with our privacy policy. We do not share tipster details with third parties without consent, except where required by Gibraltar or UK law. Journalists on our team operate under a strict code of source protection.

What happens after I submit a tip?

You will receive an acknowledgement within five working days, sent to the email address you used. If we require more detail or want to pursue the story, a reporter will contact you directly. For general enquiries about the process, see our Contact page. If you believe we have published an error that originated from a tip, please send corrections to corrections@scopepress.uk and review our corrections policy.

Our commitments

  • We will acknowledge every submitted tip within five working days, and we will never publish material we cannot independently verify.
  • We will protect tipster confidentiality to the fullest extent permitted by law and will not disclose identities without explicit consent.
  • We will clearly label sponsored or commercial content and disclose affiliate links; commercial relationships never influence editorial decisions on tipped stories.
  • We will correct any factual error arising from a tip promptly and transparently, following our corrections policy at corrections-policy.
  • We will treat all tipsters with respect, regardless of the nature of the information, and will not retaliate against whistleblowers or good-faith sources.
