Corrections Policy

ScopePress.uk, operated by Rock Bay Media Ltd. (company number 128512, registered in Gibraltar, registered office Suite 21, Portland House, Glacis Road, Gibraltar GX11 1AA), takes editorial accuracy seriously and is committed to correcting all significant errors promptly and transparently. This policy explains how we handle corrections and how readers can report mistakes. Our editorial coverage focuses on UK consumer tech, gadgets, smartphones, laptops, AI, software, cybersecurity, gaming, smart home, broadband and digital culture, and we hold ourselves to the highest standards of precision in that reporting.

Who oversees corrections at ScopePress.uk?

Ruth Donovan, Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, is responsible for the corrections process at ScopePress.uk. She leads the standards desk that reviews all reported errors, coordinates updates, and ensures our editorial team follows consistent procedures. Ruth reports directly to Editor-in-Chief Nathan Brooks for any serious or complex corrections. Full details of our editorial team are on our team page.

How to report an error

To report a factual error, omission or misleading statement in any article, please email corrections@scopepress.uk with a clear description of the issue. Include the article URL, the specific error, the correct information if you have it, and any supporting sources. You may also use our general contact form at /about-us/contact/, but the corrections address ensures the quickest handling.

We accept reports from readers, sources, subjects of coverage, industry professionals and any member of the public. Anonymous tips are welcome, though providing contact details helps us follow up efficiently. We treat all submissions in confidence.

What happens after I report an error?

Within five working days of receiving a correction request, the standards desk acknowledges receipt and begins an investigation. Ruth Donovan or a designated fact-checker reviews the claim, consults the original reporter or editor, verifies the facts using primary sources, and decides whether a correction is warranted.

If the error is material — meaning it affects the accuracy, fairness or overall meaning of the article — we update the text and append a correction note at the bottom or top of the piece. The note includes the date of correction and a brief explanation of what changed and why. Minor errors such as typos that do not affect meaning are corrected silently and noted only in our internal log. For serious errors, such as defamatory statements or significant factual misstatements, the matter is escalated to Editor-in-Chief Nathan Brooks, who may issue a more prominent correction, an editor’s note or, in rare cases, a retraction.

Our broader editorial policies, fact-checking standards and complaints procedure provide additional context. See Editorial Policy, Fact-Checking Policy, and Complaints Procedure.

How are corrections recorded and displayed?

Every material correction is accompanied by a visible note stating the date and nature of the change. The note appears either immediately below the headline or at the end of the article, depending on the severity. We do not remove or rewrite history without transparency. If a correction fundamentally changes a review score, buying recommendation or product verdict, we will add a prominent editor’s note explaining the revision.

Our standards desk maintains an internal log of all corrections, including those that are minor, for quality assurance and training purposes. Significant corrections may also be summarised in a monthly transparency report when appropriate.

Our commitments

  • We correct significant errors promptly and transparently, with a visible note and date.
  • We acknowledge every correction request within five working days and investigate thoroughly.
  • Ruth Donovan and the standards desk handle all corrections impartially, escalating serious matters to the Editor-in-Chief.
  • We do not permit commercial relationships — including advertising, affiliate links or sponsorships — to influence correction decisions.
  • We publish and maintain this correction policy publicly and review it at least annually.
