ScopePress.uk uses only media that we have licensed, received as official press materials, or created ourselves. We employ licensed stock photography from reputable agencies, official promotional images provided by manufacturers and publishers, and original photography taken by our in-house Devices & Reviews Editor, Samuel Hart, during hands-on testing. Every image or video is credited with its source – for example, “Source: Manufacturer press kit” or “Photo: Samuel Hart / ScopePress.uk” – either in a caption, alt text or metadata field. Where a third-party photographer or agency is known, we include the specific credit line required by their licence.
How do we assess usage rights before publishing?
Before any media is added to an article, the editor commissioning the piece conducts a rights assessment. This process involves verifying the licence terms of stock images, confirming that press images are not embargoed or restricted to editorial use only, and checking that original photography does not contain trademarked elements that require permission. The Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Ruth Donovan, reviews any ambiguous or high-risk media. We never publish an image if we cannot demonstrate a clear chain of permission or a valid fair‑use justification for criticism or news reporting.
How can I submit a takedown or correction request?
If you believe that any image, video, graphic or other media on ScopePress.uk infringes your copyright or has been used without proper attribution, please send a detailed request to our dedicated copyright address: copyright@scopepress.uk. Include your full name, the exact URL(s) where the material appears, a description of the work you claim ownership of, and your contact information. For correction requests – such as an incorrect credit or a missing source – the same email address applies. What happens after we receive a takedown request?
Our editorial team acknowledges receipt of all takedown and correction requests within two business days. The request is assigned to Ruth Donovan or the Editor-in-Chief for assessment. We investigate the claim by reviewing our rights records, contacting the relevant contributor or agency, and consulting the licence terms. If the claim is valid – for example, we used a press image beyond its permitted scope – we remove or replace the material within five business days and notify the requester. If we believe the material is used lawfully (e.g., as fair dealing for news reporting), we explain our position in writing and offer a path for escalation.
